This video shows the derivation of the time independent Schrodinger equation (TISE)
from the full time-dependent Schrodinger Wave equation. The separation parameter is identified with energy*.
*The association of the separation parameter may seem a bit vague and unsupported now. The treatment of the interaction of light and matter (photons and electrons) using time dependent perturbation theory (in Chapter 11) provides a good context and justification for this association.
